Submitting a Complaint RECA is responsible for setting and enforcing the standards of practice for the industry. RECA will investigate complaints about industry professionals breaching those standards, and issue discipline when necessary. RECA also investigates individuals or companies practising without a licence.
If you make a complaint against your neighbour, the condo board cannot tell your neighbour who made the complaint. The condo board can provide a copy of your letter of complaint provided all information that could reveal your identity is removed from the letter. Condominium boards are elected by and accountable to the owners, who are shareholders in the corporation. Every condominium corporation is bound by the bylaws it has registered with Land Titles or the default bylaws in provincial legislation. Handling complaints is an important part of public protection and promoting ethical and competent condo management services across Ontario. The complaints process will attempt to resolve issues, and may involve a discipline hearing to determine if a licensee violated the Code of Ethics.
Exercising the condo board ’s powers in an oppressive or unfairly prejudicial way, or in a manner that disregards the interests of an interested party (which may include the owners, corporation, board member or a registered mortgagee).
