How to make a buttonhole? Where do I put my buttonhole? The button hole foot is a sewing machine foot which simply clips onto the machine. Remove your current presser foot, and then clip the buttonhole foot on.

Option Use a buttonhole cutter set. This two piece set, consisting of a chisel and a small wooden block, gives you the cleanest.

Set the buttonhole on the block. Starting near one en place the chisel where you want the slit created. Make sure your button fits. Measure the button.

Draw a line where you want the buttonhole to go that is the same width as the button.

Using a straight stitch, sew around the box that you have drawn. Change to a zigzag stitch. You will need the zigzags to be.

Sew down the right side of the buttonhole until you read the mark for the bottom bartack. Sew the bottom bartack using your preferred bartack settings. As a reminder for me these settings were length zero and width of 5. To sew the left side of the buttonhole you will need to switch back to your side zig zag settings which should be a short zig zag.
