My roommates broke up

My roommate and her boyfriend woke me up with loud shouts coming from her bedroom. They were fighting again. Unfortunately, if a roommate is not named on the lease agreement, you may not have a lot of options.

We both agreed for the contract to be signed on the first of July and yet there is still no contract. It would also be a shame to line someone up and get all of your ducks in order only to find out the landlord will not let new roommate move in for days and incoming can not wait that long. When you do contact the landlord explain that you and roommate have decided you can not live together and one of you would like to complete the lease term without your roommate being on the lease or liable in anyway.


She made a comment about how what we started could not go in any positive direction and that if it was something we both really wanted we would have to start over and go about it differently, but that’s never going to happen.
