Workflow rules on tasks do not fire when the task is created by a different workflow rule. If you want to do field updates or other actions, you need to write a trigger to perform those actions. Assignment rules in salesforce are used to automatically assign lead or Case to owner ( User Or Queue ). Assignment rule is used to automate owner assignment on Case and Lead based on conditions on Case or Lead.


For example, there could on lead assignment rule for web-generated leads and one case assignment rule for the holiday use. I tried using DML Options but getting the following error: Execution of AfterInsert caused by: System. SObjectException: DML statment cannot operate on trigger. I am using an after insert trigger.

The dataloader does not help but you can use ant or workbench to download the assignment rules meta data from one org and deploy it to another. Using ant it should be possibel to automate that task completely however for a first try you can easily do it manually using the workbench. It seems that only way to run assignment rules is to tick the case assignment checkbox on the new case page.


My problem is that I override the new case page and have written my own new case wizard. I insert a number of new cases at the end of my wizard but cannot get the assignment rules to fire for any of them. How to keep Assign using active assignment rule check box to be checked by default please suggest me.
