Clinical pharmacist registration

These resources will help provisionally registered pharmacists maintain and develop their clinical knowledge and assist with registration assessment revision. HEE will be extending access to these resources to pre- registration pharmacists who have previously sat the registration exam but are not eligible to become provisionally registered pharmacists. The programme aims to educate or refresh pre-registration tutors of the knowledge and skills required to provide effective supervision to pre-registration pharmacist trainees as they progress through their one-year pre-registration training programme. To progress into research through the MSc year (Year 3), take any of the above pathways but you must choose Research Methods as an optional unit. There are different routes of registration for pharmacists depending on where a person has graduated and trained as a pharmacist.


Continued Registration Pharmacists and pharmaceutical assistants wishing to remain on the register to practice in Ireland must apply on an annual basis for continued registration and pay an annual fee. Many do this through a residency program. Residency programs for clinical pharmacy are generally one-year, followed by at least two years of experience, in order to be classified as a clinical pharmacist.


If you’ve qualified overseas, you’ll need to undertake the Overseas Pharmacist Assessment Programme (OSPAP), which is a one-year postgraduate diploma. You’ll then need to successfully complete weeks of pre-registration training, which is a period of paid or unpaid employment at an approved community or hospital pharmacy. Premises Register PDF.


The Trust have developed a Medicines Reconciliation checklist that is used for all non- elective adult hospital admissions. It is designed to be used by a pharmacist , technician or pre- registration student who has an underpinning knowledge of the medicines reconciliation process (any new member of the team is competency assessed on completing the activity by senior pharmacist or technician).
